just thought i would update the research on the heavy winter tire. i'm in alaska and will be driving through the 6 months of winter, and its been along time since i did it without front wheel drive. Been here 30 years & decided limited studs was a must after talking wth dealer service guys because of the rear wheel drive, and the hakkapelitta 2s are the only speed rated studs out there i could find, they also have a soft grip and doesn't freeze to hard rubber. i had to go to 225/55/17 all around, because nokia doesn't make the 235, but thinner is better in snow so i dont plow it, and back wider than front is definitely not recommended in snow, otherwise you plow twice. The 55 gives a bit of extra height to get over burms, and i wont be speed driving until thaw anyway[we call it 'breakup']. Higher than nissan recommends, but tire dealer said load rating is more than standard, so they would go ahead and install with warranty. I'll keep these on the stock 17 rims and move to 18 with one of the all season advised below in the spring. And everyone is right, the stock tires are scary and coming off asap! anyone want 4, 1600 miles, reeeeally good deal?

Kuhmo ASXs for A/S. Rode them in the winter last year and they were OK. But I'm going to go with winters this year. Still deciding between the Blizzaks and M3s for the winter.

 

I got a set of Pirelli P Zero Neros last year after I got the **** scared out of my on my oem's in some verrrry light snow. They were great, but don't ever think that you can let your guard down. And in Columbus, it's not the weather you have to worry about, it's anything that moves on I-270.

 

I'd lean toward the M3s vs. the LM22, though both are very good.
