Default Pros and Cons for rolling/cutting fenders

what are some pros and cons for rolling/cutting fenders? i am dropped on tanabe gf210 ( 1 " front and 1.2 " rear ) and planning to run 19 inch with 9.5/10.5 and 17+/18+ offset. this will require me to roll or cut my fenders because of my drop, so before i do this i like to hear what you guys have to say about rolling/cutting fenders! thank you

So long as it's done correctly, you should be fine. If done incorrectly, you may get cracking or paint chipping around that area.

cons of cutting, potential for rust on the edge (you can paint it but if there is any breeches in the paint rust will form. Possible weakening of the fender if too much is removed. Potential to cut the tire if it still rubs since there will be a sharp edge on the fender.

pros of cutting, maximum clearance for tires. damage to outside fender is unlikely.

cons of rolling, high possibility of paint cracking and peeling. the amount you can roll the fender is limited so if rubbing is excessive it may not completly solve the problem. Also there's the possiblility that the outside fender may show some distortion or wavyness.

pros of rolling, safer as it will retain the structural rigidity of the fender since no metal will be reomoved, safer for tires if it still rubs since there will be a smooth rolled edge which won't slice the tire.

this doesnt really answer your question, but i had mine done at sixteen customs by hiro, and they came out great.

its quite a bit more expensive than cutting/rolling, but im pretty particular about my car, so i didnt care.

if i recall correctly, what they did was roll the fenders, then smoothed everything out, and sprayed more of the black undercoating on the inside of the wheel-well, then repainted the fender section.

..just another suggestion i thought i'd throw out there.

Cons: chipped paint, dimpled fenders, rust prone areas from cracked paint, or lack of paint..

of all the cars that i've had to roll my fenders, i never once had any problems. if done correctly, you will have no paint chipping and no ripples or waves in the fender.

you should call up my boy Sander at The Wheel Supply, they do awesome work. they mainly work on european and japanese luxury cars so their attention to detail is crazy good.
