So the stock 06 enthusiast REARS comes with some 245/45/18s...now, I am interested in some 17x9.5 wheels with 275/40/17...I looked it up on http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and found out its quite a difference...about 2.3mph if I am traveling 60...
the 275/40/17 is a real short tire compared to the stock 245/45/18...my question is, will this severely effect my odometer mileage? if so, how badly do you think? i know I will gain a good deal of acceleration, since these are lightweight 17s...and the shorter tire...but is it worth a shot? let me know what ya think!
btw, they are 17x8.5 31mm 245/45/17 and 17x9.5 35mm 275/40/17...how do you think they will look on the Z?

It will look kinda bad but obviously you're not doing it for looks. Go for it. Be sure to disable the traction control..... the computer might think the rears are slipping.
It will help acceleration because it gives you a more aggressive final drive gear as well as a wheel with lower rotational inertia.
I can tell you for sure my 19s even with the forged barrel made me feel pretty slow going from stock 18's.

can anybody else confirm this? or any other info? mathematical formulas would be great...since i really suck at math to think of a formula

actually, you know what....i sat down and quickly ran through some #s...and i believe I found out the real #s...correct me if i am wrong
if my difference is 3.8%...then I calculate whatever mileage I want to know, by 3.8%...ex...
100,000 miles on the ODO...x 3.8% = 3800 miles....
100,000 miles - 3800 miles = 96,200 miles
so when my odometer says 100,000 miles, in reality I've only traveled 96,200 miles....did I get my math right? haha

I don't know. Hopefully someone else can chime in![Frown](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)

btw, does anybody know the weight of a 05 track/35th or 2006 base-enthusiast rim? i believe the 05 track/35th first started to use those 5 spokes...then it carried over onto the 06 base and enthusiast...they are the same rims right?
anybody know the weight for these?
