Is it easier to have a set of wheels painted or have them sent to Volk to be painted? My wheels have tiny scratches from normal wear and tear and I think the Time attack setup would really look incredible.

it'd definitely be easier to have a shop paint it. But make sure the shop is competent. The only shop that deals with my wheels' custom jobs is Status Auto.

That is somewhat similar to what I was considering doing with my GTF's once the lip gets damaged or faded. My Z is Carbon Silver, so I was thinking painting the spokes to match the car and the lip black.
Is it possible for a Z to be TOO-badass? I think Alex is either approaching or is at that level. Wheels look great and the color choices are perfection, sick brakes sitting in there like diamonds, tires are sick, great parts selection all around, and last but not least...420ZTT.
