Default Need some help getting more downforce

Hey all,

I'm definitely in need of some more downforce. I spend an average of 25-30 minutes at 250kph or above during my morning / evening commutes and consistently have to force myself to slow down because I can feel the car getting light on the suspension as I'm driving. Right now, the only modifications I have to my car are engine/drivetrain. So, in terms of suspension and aero, I drive a stock '03 track (w/ diffusers). Just wondering what I can get to plant my car a little harder on the road.

From what i've read a lip and a better wing (like Nismo or something) might be the way to go. I can't really lower the car too much becuase some of the city roads I have to drive on (at a much lower speed of course, lol) are cobblestone... not to mention getting on and off post (damn gate speedbumps). If there were some way I could control ride height electronically from inside the cabin, that would be nice (it would be PERFECT if I could rig it up to drop an inch or two when I exceed 200kph). If not, I guess i'll just have to add aero (trying to keep the car as stock looking as I possibly can).

Thanks for all your help!

Do you have access to a fabrication facility?

It would be interesting if you could extend the rear bumper under the silencer and built some fences on each side. A diffuser would certainly help.

A rear spoiler will also do well, provided it’s well built/designed and actually does generate down force!

Vortex generators on the roof trailing edge a la Evo might also bring some air in behind the car to reduce lift. That area sees no airflow at all. My rear window is always dry when driving on the highway in the rain...

For high speed stability, a new set of dampers will also help, without affecting your ride height. That might actually be the best and least intrusive way of solving your problem.

Aren’t cars homologated in Germany?

the 350z has a really "floaty" suspensions.

I know what you mean, driving at 250kmh is not the best feeling in the world. And hitting even a slight patch of uneven asphalt is a scary thing.

I think a set of proper shocks(koni) would eliminate that bounceness and improve stability tenfold.

I wouldn't bother with downforce, risks screwing up things more than they are

Get a Hotchkis TVS kit, it lowers the car just very little (less than 2cm) and should do the job. Now these kits are available for very reasonable prices (less than 400$).
At these speeds a front lip and rear wing would also help a lot.

I disagree, hotchkis are great springs and the sways don't hurt either. But he's still limited by the stock shocks.

But I think he should look into a more aggressive set of coilovers and maybe a wing as mentioned.
