I just weighed my base-model 17/8.0 rear wheel/tire/air: 54.5lbs. A previous thread on this forum suggested it would be difficult to save 10lbs/wheel. At almost 55lbs, I'm thinking it would be easy (especially with forged wheels or even pressure-cast). Does anyone have examples of what their new wheel/tire/air weighed? Even if they're not 17".

my 18" hiros with falken azenis zeix 512 245/40/18 weigh in under 50lbs. Someone with 17lb rims get have a 45lb setup, easy.
When i bought my last set of tires, the azenis were 4lb less each then a comparably priced tire and were the lightest of all that were offered.
You could save 40 lbs of rolling mass! just cost over 3grand to do it.
