Default Adjustable Pillow ***** (can someone explain)

Can anyone explain exactly what an adjustable pillow ball does and HOW it does it. Also, do you have any close up pictures of this part.

THis sounds like a stupid question, but I am leading up to something.

Thanks

I don't think its a stupid question. I would like to know what they are and what advantage do they give you over conventional parts? A pic would be helpful, too. I have never heard of them before I started reading about coilovers.

Im not sure where the term "pillow ball" started(never heard of it in any shop I ever worked at ) but its basically a replacement upper strut mount that uses a spherical bearing to loacte the top of the strut instead of the typical rubber bushing. On a macpherson strut type suspension where the strut also acts as the upper control arm, any flex in this rubber bushing also incures a subtle alignment change, so taking the flex out of this bushing would reduce that. Also, since the location of strut in a macpherson suspension also affects camber/caster, an adjustment for these settings is usually included on these pillow ball mounts(as pictured)

As for the Z, with multilink suspension, niether the placement of the strut mount nor flex in its bushing has any affect on alignment. If they already come with a kit you are buying fine, but not worth it to get on their ownIMHO.
