No, it would not. It would be much more durable than painting, though.
Umm... (silver) Nismo wheels stock finish IS painted, so yes, powdercoating would be more durable. Not sure how the bronze finished ones, though; they have some kind of funky coating on them that is textured.

I disagree. Powdercoating isn't much (if any) more durable than the paint in my experience. The factory painting process for wheels produces a very solid finish compared to aftermarket painting. The durabiltiy differences between the factory paint on the wheels and the powdercoat would be minute. With enough force to damage either, the other would be damaged as well.
If you go to a decent powdercoater, it will be pretty damn durable and likely you won't ever have problems, but I agree nothing will compare with the original finish in terms of durability.
