Exclamation Oh which Blizzaks to buy?

Hello all! I have just recently bought a sweet 2003 Touring Edition and I am concerned about buying some snow tires. I realize that the 350z isn't exactly made for the snow, but I can also see from the posts that a good set of skins can make a gigantic difference in driveability in the winter months. Some people have mentioned their success with Blizzak WS-50 tires whileothers have touted the LM-25s or LM-22s. Is there a real difference between these tires or is it basically down to price. Bying a beater is out of the question for me unfortunately and the winter in NW Ohio is sure to be substantial, but nothing worse than I have ever seen in the past. Your advice as to which tires to by will be greatly appreciated.

Default thanks!

Thanks for welcoming me to the Forum and for giving me some advice to think about. Is it possible to avoid buying another set of rims and mounting the winter tires on my regular wheels?

Mounting them on your regular wheels is no problem; however, I prefer to have them mounted on another set of rims for convenience sake (easy on and easy off during the changeover in the spring and winter).

As for the WS-50 Blizzaks versus the LM-22, the short explanation is that the LM-22 is more of a performance-oriented snow tire geared toward high-performance vehicles. The WS-50, on the other hand, is a more traditional snow tire (lower speed rating than the LM-22's, etc). I've been using the LM-22's over the past three winters, and they've been excellent. I also know people who've used the WS-50's, and they've been happy with that choice as well.

Welcome. I was wondering the same. I checked the Tires section of this forum and got some good info. But this thread pretty much sums it up nicely. Im probably going to put Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on my new Z before I drive it up from Houston to Iowa. Blizzaks and m3's were the two most widely discussed in the tire forum. Everyone seems to think they are both good.

I hate to say this but.. IBTM

Another tire to consider is the Pirelli 240 SottoZero. It's been gaining polularity among 350z and G35 owners. In fact, most dealers are now selling that tire as part of their winter package (not that i would buy them from the dealer). The main difference is treadwear. The Blizzaks have been known to not last very long due to the soft compound. The SottoZero is an amazing "v" rated tire.....that you should get more seasons out of.

And they look HOT...lol.

Thumbs up Cool!

I appreciate all your info, and I am going with the Blizzaks, although the Dunlops were tempting as were the Pirellis. I appreciate everyone's input, as it helped to make my decision easier. Thanks a million!!!
