Refinishing of 18" wheels question.
Wheels have never been important to me. However, now that I have the 18 inchers that came with the Perf. package I'm getting hooked. I like the wheels just fine but might alter the finish down the road. So the question is:
How good/permenant are the various refinishing techniques I read about on this site?
Specifically:
-Will a chrome "dipping" result in as permenant a finish as wheels chromed as origional finish?
-How good is the "powdering" process? Will it chip, fade, or otherwise lose its appearance over time?
On a related note, would it be possible for the powder process to match the Brick color on the wheels?
Appreciate hearing from the true-blue car guys on here.

if you strip the rims to the bare metal, then the chroming process will be permanent, as all things, the quality of the work done will impact the product.
as for powdercoating, they can match basicly any color you can imagine, so yes, a good shop should be able to match brickyard. as for it chipping, its only a coating, if you scrape a curb it will come off, and will show the metal underneith, but its not going to randomly flake off as you drive. again, assuming the quality of the work is good.

Appreciate the reply, Ares. Any ballpark number on cost of a good chrome or powder job where you live?

chrome should be 150-200 a rim, powder coating should be about 50-100 a rim. might vary slightly since paint has to be removed, and powder coating might be more to match a custom color, also location. but that should be ball park.
