work meister s1's heavy?
The Work S1's (to me) look great, but I'm worried about the weight, since they're 3 piece and heavy lookin'. I'd be thinking of the works in 18's. Anybody who has had or does have them offer advice as to whether these would be acceptable? I'm geared more towards performance then looks. Thanks.

The S1's are ~23lbs for a 19x9.5 and ~25 for the 19x10.5 which is lighter than some OE wheels, not necessarily a Z though. I bet they are about the same weight as the OE 18x8's or the 18" G wheels. Anything less than 20lbs is lightweight for a 17x8.5"+ wheel.
Also factor in the weight of the tires, some are lighter than others. Toyo T1-S and T1-R's are pretty light(2 to 3lbs less than some other tires of the same size), maybe even the lightest tires available but what you lose is sidewall stiffness. Other heavier tires will most likely have stiffer sidewalls giving better steering response but suffer from additional weight. Something to note that's often overlooked...
The way around this is to stretch the lighter tire just a bit to increase the steering response by reducing the amount of flex in the sidewall. It's not gonna give the same feel as a tire with a better sidewall- but it helps.
That said if you're into performance than don't even look at 19's. Tire selection pretty much sucks and the prices are a lot higher for wheels and tires....especially tires!
