Default heres a good place for tires

Check out edgeracing.com. They are pretty reasonable. I know that tire rack is or was a sponsor here, but they dont carry many in 275/35/19 (i know they dont carry toyo in this size). I paid $262 per toyo t1r shipped to hawaii. They are normally 209 with free shipping.

I looked at them for some autocross tires (Falken) a couple weeks ago. While their prices were similar to Discount Tire Direct, DTD offered free shipping whereas EdgeRacing didn't and that was the deal breaker for me.

Is their free shipping something special or limited to certain brands, like the Toyos?

I've been checking prices for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in the following sizes
2- 245/40/18
2- 275/40/18

and I come up with the following quotes w/ shipping

DTD : $1018.00
Tire Rack : $966.52
edgeracing.com : Doesn't carry them In fact they didn't even have Nissan in the vehicle list...

Anyways, DTD may have free shipping but they are not the cheapest!

sh*t they didnt have nissan in their list, i hope the 275/35/19 t1rs fit on my rims. Wait, i just checked they do have nissan. Yeah i might have been wrong about the free shipping, but either way they were significantly cheaper than any other shop i found when shipped to hawaii.

Actually, that illustrates a very important point. You have to check around as each place has different prices, not only between different brands but between sizes of the same exact tires.

My autocross buddies recommended EdgeRacing and Vulcan tires. For the smaller sizes they run (15" and 16") EdgeRacing was cheaper than anybody else. For the 18" Falkens I wanted, DTD was the place. It pays to shop around.

This is also a good example of things not always being what they seem. Usually, DTD and TR have almost the exact same prices, in fact if you didn't know better you'd think they used the same price book.

When I looked on the TireRack site, I noticed that your front tires were "on special" which saved you $23 per front tire. Add that $46 saving back to the $966 and their regular price would be $1012 - almost the same as DTD. If you look at their inventory, those "special" tires are on backorder (nationwide).

Of course, when I looked at DTD's site, the rears are on backorder there. Ah the joys of dealing with online sellers!

I agree shopping around and comparing the shipped price is the way to go, as well as availability. But then you also have to consider customer support for some things too! Which I'll spend that little extra for.

Actually, two of my last three sets of tires that I bought I got locally. The shop beat the prices from any of the online stores. Plus I found a guy that I could trust my new Volk wheels with.

It definitely won't hurt to ask around locally after you've found your best deal online. You're gonna need somebody local to mount and balance them anyway so it never hurts to have a local connection. That's where you really learn the meaning of "customer service".

I don't know how many people are in SLC, Utah I am a Manager for Discount Tire and I have been hooking people up involved with SCCA and Miller Motorsports Park. We have touchless mount tire changers so the wheels cannot get scracthed.

whether they had nissan on the list or not will not make any difference if the tire will fit or not. most online tire places allow you to shop by tire size, not "what fits your car". that way you can look for the specific tire size you need to fit your particular wheel size. I know tire rack even puts what wheel width for the tire you selected, amking sure you got the right one for the job
