285/35 is the wrong size tire. 295/30 is the correct size regarding sidewall height. Your tire sidewall is taller than OE.

In terms of treadwidth, yes I can go lower. I was even considering 265/35 for the front and 295/35 for the back. I don't really like the stretch look plus I like the mad traction I get from wider tires. In terms of profile.... There's a reason why I don't want to go for anything lower than 35. One is for comfort. Second is that I have the TPS in there. Anything lower than 35 would give me a high risk on destroying the sensors. For whoever that said they're the "wrong size". How the hell do you define that they're the wrong size? Rick@Status suggested me 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. But I wanted to go 10mm wider.

I think those wheels are effin bad ***. You do need to drop your car but be thankful your wheel gap isn't as bad as the 06s.

The wheel gap on my Z looks worse everytime I look at it. In fact, I think I'm going to order coilovers right now.

I think that people may be hating because that is kind of an agressive wheel and may look out of place to some on an otherwise stock car. I think it looks kick ***, though.

285/35 may be slightly larger than stock, but its closer to the rolling diameter of stock than is 295/30 which is smaller than stock. I guess it depends what you are after as to which wheel is right for you.

Here are some popular sized rear wheel configs and how they compare to stock (stolen from miata.net)

Heres the one you will find in almost all discount wheel/tire packages. A lot of people complain that it affects their TCS/VDC, but plenty of ppl run this size. 275/30/19

Here is 275/35/19. This seems to be the most popular choice among members and is very close to the stock rolling diameter:

Here is 285/35/19, also very close to the stock rolling diameter but slightly taller.

Heres 295/30/19. Its really wide but is smaller than both the 275/285-35 tires in overall diameter.

I ran 285/35 on my last set of wheels and the tires tucked in a little bit.

No, i meant the car can be lowered more, not that you should have a lower profile tire. I like the 285/35 too <3

my old set of wheels, lowered pretty good:

My neighborhood is fine.. I live in the east coast. People don't even know what the word JDM means. But if I have some DUBs on, I'd be scared! I live in Batimore btw.

Hmm... can I just get some Tein Basic springs without the coilovers to get just the drop? Then later when I get some more money, I can add the coilovers? Seems like just the springs don't cost that much. I also agree that my car needs a drop BADDD.

Try the tanable Gf 210 springs or eibach prokit springs if you can't do coilovers.

Right but I want to eventually go with the Tein coilover and maybe the EDFC! I just don't want to get anything now and have to sell them used later on.

Good choice on the wheels. Don't pay attention to the negative comments, what you think is the only thing that matters. I love mine and get compliments all the time. I am yet to see someone else with these wheels around my area, I think they are still relatively rare.

The only negative comment I got was from a guy driving a piece of **** volvo, needless to say, I let that d bag have it.

Again, nice choice

oops.. lets put it this way.. should I get some springs for cheap or just have a shop cut my stock springs? I know it's ghetto.. but since I want to get coilovers eventually. Just don't feel like wasting money on some "temporary" springs now.

I very highly suggest you DO NOT cut your springs. Just either buy your coilovers first and be done with it or just get some springs. If you are plainning on just doing something temporary anyways, and having a shop do it, you are already spending too much money. A shop can charge anywhere from $100 to several hundred to change springs - better off just doing it right the first time. A cut spring with have horrible handling properties - the stock springs I do believe are a progressive spring and it would ruin the way the car drives. Plus you do not have a civic, you have a 350Z and running $3-4K worth of wheels/tires - DO NOT CUT YOUR SPRINGS!

OK...you cant have WORK WORKMEISTER S1's 3 PIECE WHEELS on cut springs, that would definitely be ghetto fabulous. Just spend like 275 on springs instead of cutting the stock ones.
