I'm having my 06 Rays powdercoated this week. I was quoted about $300.00. I'm pretty sure powdercoating would be more durable than paint, so that's why I went that route. On a side note, I'm only doing this because of the clearcoat on the rims is dissolving. There was a thread about this awhile back where a few others chimed in. Curious if anyone else with this problem got it fixed?

I remember a few guys here that said they powdercoat and paint and have had customers have more problems with powdercoating than painting. I forgot which thread it was though.

Yeah, I looked around for a bit to see if there was more info/opinions. I figure 300 bones isnt a bad deal if it holds up for awhile. I'm going with a darker color than the original silver, and I can't wait to see the results. I'll post pics after completion.

I did mine a while ago and am really happy with the look. I know that the car is a mess and the pics are crappy (camera phone) but you get the idea...

Nah its for all 4. I am going to ask for double clearcoat when I drop them off on Wednesday, so it'll probably be a little more expensive.

Tomiegunzz-
This place is in Albany, so if it turns out well then that should be not too far away for you if you are considering powdercoating. Like I said, I'll post pics late this week/early next when they are all done.

They were powdercoated a gunmetal metallic. The wheels were sandblasted then two coats of powder and a clearcoat were applied.

I may as well give all of you the breakdown on my powdercoated wheels since I've already received a few PMs asking about them.

It cost $75 per wheel at the place I use (A1 Chrome in Newington, CT). These guys are the best as far as customer service and they do excellent work at a reasonable rate. Give Claudio a shout if you're interested (860.666.4593) and tell him that Anthony with the gunmetal G35 wheels sent you. This price included included a full sandblasting, two coats of metallic powder (color) and a clearcoat on top. I did have some curb rash and Claudio fixed it and you would never be able to tell where it was screwed up. He welded it then sanded it down for VERY cheap. These guys are awesome!!
