i dont really get what you mean by steer though, so i may be misunderstanding your statement.
Wheels jutting outside the bodywork = not street legal in most countries.

If you're car is not street legal, then you can't participate in a street legal car event. Legality would have to be verified locally.

Also, with those wheels, pretty much any form of contact will involve the rim. That's suspension damage for you, and some pretty nasty bodywork damage to anyone/any thing you make contact with. Not a good way to make friends...

My steering comment was about the car's ability to reach full steering lock without contacting the fenders ?

dunno what to tell ya...done many track events here and no problems.

also, i actually can steer even with more steering angle than stock because i have new inner tie rods that allow me about 10-15 more degrees of angle. then again, my front setup is only 19x9+15..

When you have a chance, I'd be curious to see a picture of the front wheel on full lock.

Really dig the wheels, just not that fired up about the tire choice.. but $200/2 of those tires can't be beat, I guess.. and "no concavity".. BS! They have plenty of concavity, it is well seen in the pics. GL w/it and enjoy it!

i think there would be more acceptance if you had, for a lack of a better term, a nicer lookin wheel.

I'm a wheel ***** myself, I'm glad you made this thread so I can get ideas on future setups.

I ran a 18x10.5 -26mm on my S14

yeah, the wheel took a bit to grow on me, but i love it now and you need to see it in person with the car dropped to see how well it goes. no worries though

yeah, negative offset ftw! im planning something nice a little later for my z as well, not like your s14 though although my hachi rins a 15x8.5 -10

Cuz there's no way you can steer with these things on. Heck, you shouldn't pass tech inspection of a minimaly serious club event!
I guess you havent seen any of the crazy civic's at any SCCA autocross events:
