Bought a set of '06 factory rims for my '03, so i need to swap the TPS sensors from my old rims to my new ones so i don't have topay the dealer out the *** to get em reprogrammed. Can i trust the tire place to swap em?? I ask because the new set has worn tires on them so i'm swapping my old tires onto the new rims. Do you think they will charge me, or is this something they run into alot?? Thanks!!
Damn you sure ask a lot of questions
Can you trust a place? That depends on what the place is. Wal-Mart? No. Find a reputable tire shop. Contact some of the local/regional car clubs, i.e. Z, BMW, Porsche, etc. Find out who they trust their cars and wheels to.
Will they charge you? Yes, expect to pay $100 for dismounting, remounting and balancing.
Make sure that they know that when they remove the sensor from a wheel, they need to mark which wheel it came from (FL, FR, RL, RR). Then put those sensors in the corresponding "new" wheels. Since they're moving tires too, the sensors should follow the tires from corner to corner.
