People usually blame the driver in the accidents, Look across this board. Accidents everywhere. People sliding off the road, people flipping the cars. Look at the death stats from our cars. We have one of the only cars that can fit 15 offset wheels, not surprisingly we have one of the most unsafe vehicles.

I would consult your federal government about this issue. In Canada we're not even allowed to have 15's.

/\/\/\/\ - didnt know Canada was plagued by conspiracy theorists too. damn. its probably because at 125+ nothing short of a steel roll cage, five point harness, helmet and HANS device (or luck) can save you. or maybe God just hates 350Z owners? distinct possibility there. that makes about as much sense as your theory. Z's do get vandalized alot, must mean the almighty is after us. QUICK! go start a doomsday cult FTW !

I could be wrong though. Maybe this whole time, those damn +15 offsets have been murdering people !

At the beginning, you seemed to have doubt. Maybe you should trust your instincts?

That's why the government stepped in, in 1978, to ban 15 offsets from most states. Whoever sold you 15 offset wheels should be ashamed.

I have often seen mounted police carrying confiscated wheels. Must be the ones you are taking about.

It's actually not true 15mm offset that is dangerous. But, some manufacturers sell 14.7mm claiming them to be 15. So if you have actual 15mm's you should be fine. But, I don't know who said the thing about the gyro rotational forces before, but it doesn't tear the wheel apart. At 150 mph the 14.7mm offset wheel is at a slight angle to the axle due to camber and toe issues. Therefore, it causes a great deal of heat at the axle as the wheel and axle spin. If you drive at that speed for too long, the heat build up actually weakens the tensile pressure of the wheel leading to warping and, eventually tire failure.

Listen it's easy... in cali, the offsets you need by law are 18's. In Canada and most of the mid west states, people tend to use 17's as their offsets. Delaware you need 21's, as anything lower than that will result in an offset ticket. Now, in Utah you need 71's and on the East Coast except Florida you need 13's. However, the law may be changing in Florida from the current 15 to Cali's 18's, as 15's result in high speed deaths. Beware of Virginia where you are not allowed offsets.

Does that clear it up?
Doesn't some states require the the wheel to not stick out past the fenders? So in that case, wouldn't 17-18 offset be illegal cuz of that? 21 offset should be safe tho.

In most states you're safe with 18, just don't try for 15 anywhere except maybe Alabama. Oh, most states will let you go as low as 14 as long as you get permission.

I know hardly anything about offsets! When I ordered my volks, I told the saleman I want at least 4 inch rear lip to clear brembos. I got 10.5+24 offset. I have a 4" lip and clears my brakes.
