Tire life??

Question Tire life??

Is there a way to tell how much life your tires have left? I am not sure how much life mine still have in them..I am at 12k miles

Look between the tread bars and you'll see a bump or notch in the grooves. That's what they call the tread wear indicator. If your tread at any point on the tire is even with indicators your tires are considered legally bald at 2/32s.

No. You can check tread depth with a penny, but that will not tell you how many miles are left.

Actually you can go to discount or NTB and they have tread depth measurers. One of the guys at NTB gave one to me. It's like a little pen with a needle that moves like a air pressure gauge. You stick it into the lowest point on the tire and the measurement will slide and come out on the top. It'll tell you how many /32s you have left and you can guess the mileage. It's not an exact science since everybody drives differently.
