I have a question about Toyo T1Rs.

I have heard they have a rounder sidewall and tend to look smaller than a comparative tire (i.e. a 245 looks like a 235 from Michelin) can anyone confirm this?

so if I am ordering them I should go up a size than I am used to?

and Goodyear is coming out with a new GSD3 - the Assymetrical... I have heard it is going to be a great tire.

as well, Pirelli came out with the P Zero (no suffix) that is supposed to be incredable.

I won't run any other tire than Toyo T1-R.... ever again.... I actually got 35K + miles on my last set. I write down the mileage when I put a new set on and look at it when I replace... I always replace all my tires at the same time as well when they are getting low.

I also always buy form TD4L... great service and prices!

Who has Kumho Ecsta?
They are pretty cheap and has good ratings on the chart, but seems like no one runs them.

Its a all-season tire. Speed rating? Size availability? May not be suitable for the 350Z.

Been running the summer Eagle F1 GSD3's for almost a year now...noticed the all-season version came out. I need new rears in a couple weeks...was considering the AS but I haven't heard enough about them. I think I'm going to stick with the summer tires, they're probably better anyway. Who needs AS in Arizona anyway?

I ran Eagle F1 GSD3. Now running Eagle F1 all season*. There is no comparison. The Eagle F1 GSD3 is significantly better both dry and wet.

Maybe the F1 all season will get me through an inch of snow. We will see.

I run a 255/35/19 Toyo T1-R tire on a 9.5 wide wheel in front.
It's pretty beefy as is and is perfect in my opinion.
I use to run 245 with a slight tapered stretch. You could definitely go 245 if you wanted, but 255 will be a sure fit on the 8.5.

I've never run Michelins before, but a 255 T1-R would be more than enough for an 8.5 wide rim.

ecxta MX is pretty good imo for the money. never tried other tires other than stock re040 so... it was soo much improvement over stocks since it provided softer sidewall which made me stiffen up my coilovers and it coners like never before!! Pretty good traction when it's warmed up, but when its cold, it's easy to break lose for good 2 secs if you don't lift the gas. it's quieter than stock re040s but still have some noise @ around 40~50mph. they looks very aggressive too! imo its 9.1/10

Some background:

My 2005 Enthusiast Model has 23,000 miles on it.

I have a 2006 4WD Drive Crew Cab Colorado Truck (a TRUE 5 passenger vehicle) which is my daily driver car .
If the weather forecast is for a good day, I will take the Z to work.
That is all because the Truck is a REALLY safe vehicle.


My commute to work is 25 miles each way and is all highway,




I mention the truck because prior to getting it , all I owned was the Z which limited my tire options.
With only 2000 miles on the Z and after a really scary hydroplaning incident with the stock Potenzas , I replaced the Tires with the Pilot Sport A/S All Season tires.

On dry curvy roads, the Potenzas were a blast i.e. the car REALLY handled well but I had to give that up when I went to the All Season Tires.

Now those Pilots are worn out and I get to put almost anything I want on the car.
I say anything because I still worry about a pop up thunderstorm happening and causing me to end up driving backwards on the highway I take to work.

I have been eying the BF Goodrich KDWS tires and really appreciate the effort put into the chart at the beginning of this thread.

So given the fact that my truck is my daily driver car and that I am looking for a tire that will only be driven in good weather, with possible rain, I sure would appreciate any opinions on the KDWS tire.
I also welcome any other opinions on other tires I should consider. Cost and Tire Mileage is not a factor.

Right now, I have the stock 17" wheels that came with the car.

Is anyone running the Falken Ziex Ze 912? I did a board search and didn't find any opinions on that specific tire. I was all set to the try the Potenza RE960AS Pole Postions, but I found this thread so now I'm not sure. I've got a 2004.5 with stock wheels/tires (225/50/17 & 235/50/17). I know from reading here the P040s are crap, but they were still in fairly good condition when I got the car, so I figured I'd keep those till they wore out. This is my daily driver, and with the crazy weather here (80 one day, 40 the next) allseasons seem like the better choice. I'm not really concerned with how it handles in the snow, but I would like to feel a bit more comfortable in the rain than I do with the P040s.

This is my first Z, and the first car I've kept long enough to have to buy tires, so seeking some expert advice =) It's my every day car, and I'm not a crazy driver, I'll get on it occasionally, but not enough that it's going to kill me to give up some performance for the durability of allseasons (I hope). I've seen a lot of people post they like the pole positions, but has anyone had any experience with the Ze912s? They're a TON cheaper, but they seem to have good ratings on the Consumer Reports thing on the original post.

Actually I did search and didn't find anything anyone had posted about their experience with the 912s. I did see quite a few posts about the 512s though, but nothing really about the 912s.
