Will 225 (Front) and 285 (rear) work??
I have an opportunity to buy a set of tires from a friend at an incredibly low price. They are still new, but have been sitting for 2 yrs and that's why I'm getting the deal.
Question: he bought them for a Porsche. The sizes are
Front - 225/40/18
Rear - 285/30/18
Has anybody used this configuration before and did it work out or not? Most of the threads I have read suggest tire dimension that are much closer in width 20mm - 40mm spread whereas this would be 60mm.
The price is so good, I'm considering getting them anyways, trying it out and if it doesn't work, selling the fronts and getting 245s or 255s. But, if I can get some feedback beforehand, it might save me some hassle.
Post up if you have any input. Thanks.
PS: I realize that I will have to buy some aftermarket wheels. Probably 10 or 10.5 in for the rear and maybe 8.5 in for the fronts.

fronts are almost a full inch shorter than stock, and the rears are exactly 2 inches shorter than stock. It will look retarded with the rears shorter than the fronts and it will surely throw off vdc...dont do it.
If you have wheels wider than stock, get 255/40-18f 275/40-18r. Or if you are on stock wheels get 245/40-18f 265/40-18r

The consensus seems to be not to do it and I'm thinking the same.
Thanks for your feedback.
