Default TPMS malfunction on stock wheels

2007 Enthusiast.
I just replaced my stock 18" wheels with the stock RAYS 18"/19" setup.
After a day of city driving, all was fine. This eve, however, I was on the freeway (at speeds above 50mph since the install) and the TPMS warning light came on flashing, then after about a minute went solid. It won't go off now.
I looked in the manual - the flashing-->solid means there's a malfunction in the system.
Tire pressure is a-ok.
The only thing I can think of, is there a left and right to these wheels?

Did you transfer the TPMS out of the old wheels and installed them onto the new ones?

Uh oh... no.
Where would I find them? Is it obvious to locate?

The sensors are located on your old wheels. In a nutshell, you need to unmount the tires from the old OEM wheels, remove the sensors which are located on the old OEM wheels, and install the sensors onto your new wheels.

Hope that helps.

Oh man, that's not what I wanted to hear.
Short of doing that, I'd have to get the new wheels "reprogrammed' by the dealer, assuming they have TPS sensors inside, right?

You may have to. I've read that as long as the sensors are off your car, and as long as they're installed correctly to their locations( left front sensor installed in left front wheel) , you will not have to reprogram.

Last thought I had - since they're both stock wheels, could it be an issue of left/right, or are the sensors on the RAYS possibly different than those on the stock 18"? What I mean is, the RAYS may/probably do have their own sensors already inside, so wouldn't the TPMS be picking up the signal on the new wheel..or is it that wheel/model specific? I'm just trying to think of some way of avoiding having to unmount and mount 8 tires...omg.
TIA.

I'm not sure, but my first guess would be the new wheels do not have sensors in them. I just bought a set of Volks, and my car has the solid light on too. Doesn't bother me too much though, but when it does, or if the price is right, I will have my OEM sensors removed from my OEM wheels and installed onto the Volks.

Excellent info man - thanks so much. I'll call around tomorrow/call the dealer/etc and see if I can't get this solved somehow, inexpensively. I'll contact the seller of the original wheels and make sure he did/didn't remove the sensors from the stock RAYS wheels.
Thanks so much.
T.

There's a sticky at the top of this forum regarding TPMS. Having read it, you would not have needed to ask this question.
