Default how often do you clean your wheels?
The problem with my car is that the body tends to stay clean, but the brake dust collects quick! i guess this is the cost of owning wheels.

Brake dust is my nemesis. That usually decides when I wash the car. I just can't stand to have nasty rims.
You could change to pads that dust less, but usually when the rims are dusty, the body is a li'l dirty too.

If you're talking about the stock pads, they drive most owners nuts with the brake dust, mostly on the front rims.

2-3 times a week and at least once a month with all 4 wheels off the car to wash the inside.

I know what you guys mean. I hardly take out my Z but when I park it back in the garage and wipe it down with a microfiber towel I collect a lot of brake dust just from a short drive. I'd be more concerned if it was a daily driver, but I can live with it since I hardly take it out

EBC pads
less than half the dust of stock pads

Try morse ceramic. Used EBC first, very good mileage. Morse half the price and just as good with very little brake dust.

Hot rims will save you alot of time on cleaning wheels.

Is this a problem with pre 06-07?

I have hardly any brake dust. I can drive for 2 weeks and not have as much brake dust as I had on my IS250 in one day.

I have hawk pads, i still wash the rims once every week or two.

Try not to polish every day. You will ruin your clear coat on your rims, but if its chrome never mind.

You ppl that are polishing/washing your wheels 2-3 times a week can significantly cut this down with some aftermarket pads such as hawks or bobcats from carbotech.
