Low tire pressure light coming on w/ sensors not working
Hi all -
I have a strange problem and I wonder if anyone else has seen the same thing. I have aftermarket wheels on my track model and I do not have the sensors working. The trip computer in the car does not display anything for tire pressure. However, twice now on longer drives ( > 1 hour) I have seen the "low tire pressure" light on the dash come on and stay on for the rest of the drive. I was wondering if this light was driven by the tire pressure sensing computer, or if it was determined in some other way. I didn't know if I should be concerned or not. I checked my tire pressures and they were all running 36 - 38 psi. I think it's just a glitch or perhaps it's trying to tell me that the system is not working properly. I did not get an audible alert or anything like that.
Anyone else seen this?

Similar happened to me. When I got the car from the dealer one of the sensors (front right) was not programmed properly, so I woul dnot get a signal from it.
After 1hr driving on the HWY the low pressure light would come on. This was with proper signal from 3 tires and no signal from one. If it is meant to go on on no-signal, why would it wait for an hour??
Anyway, I took it to the dealer, they re-programmed the sensors to the receiver, and no problem since.
If you had the sensors installed, all you have to do is take it in and they re-program the receiver. If you didn't have them installed, they might have a way to turn off the receiver.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure if I have the sensors installed or not, but I'm guessing probably not. I bought the Z used w/ the rims on it. I don't have the stock ones. Glad to hear that it is normal, but it is weird that it would wait an hour before turning on a light.
Thanks,
Scott
