Question Tires: Pirelli PZero Rosso or Yokohama ADVAN Sport

So as some might know I'm looking for tires for my new wheels. I have 19" Work Meister S1 3-piece; 19x9.5 R Disk +24 front & 19x11 R Disk +36 rear. I'm going with a 255/35-19 & 285/35-19 tire set-up. Orginally I planned on running the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires but they are not offered in a 285/35 size till next summer. So now I'm tossed up between the Pirelli PZero Rosso or the Yokohama ADVAN Sport. Try searching for more info on the PZero Rosso's but didn't see anything recent or valuable. I heard good reviews on the ADVAN Sport's but would like to hear some feedback on the Rosso's. Feel free to leave a review for the ADVAN Sports as well. THANKS guys!!!

Get the ADVANs for performance but the P-Zeros for a decent all around tire. I've had Pirelli P-Zeros before and IMO the Yoks are stickier. The Pirelli's rode nice and had decent corning but the traction of the ADVANs (when there is still tread left) are awesome. The only drawbacks of the ADVANs I've encountered are that they wear pretty fast and the wet weather traction decreases exponentially after the first 50%

Edit: Robert why dont you add a poll.

Kumho and Toyo both make decent rubbers.

Thanks for the info. I've heard the Yoko's get scary in wet weather. Its a tough choice. Really wanted the PS2s. Thought about adding a poll but figured it would become a brand favorite poll vs. experience poll.

I don't want those garbage tires. IF I wanted those I would be asking about them.

I don't really have a brand favorite per say because I've ran many different tires over the years and have had a good amount of customer feed back from when I used to work at a performance shop in college. I was pretty active with the local car clubs (Miata, Mustang, Vettes, Supra, Hondas..etc). Michelin however is a manufacture I will never second guess in quality and overall performance but there are better tires out there if you are looking for specific characteristics.

Yeah... Really wish that 285/35 was avaible in Michelin PS2s.

Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, and the other main players generally stick with more OEM sizing than tuning plus sizes. That is why you won't find their selections as extensive to the aftermarket applications such as Toyo, Nitto, Falken,...etc.

If you are considering Yokohama look at the Advan Neova AD07.

That tire is decent. It's more of a best performance bang for your bucks type. If I'm not mistaken it replaced the older A540 model.

what's up bro ! ?

hey, the Toyo's and Kumho's are not garbage tires fwiw.....where do you get your info, ... from some haji over there!!? lol

Seriously, we track the Toyo's and Kuhmo's with great success. MX's rock especially for the money for a street tire. And the T1R's aren't bad either (having driven on them both in a G), but I really like the MX's better for the street. I drove on the PS2's as well, ... I do like them, ... but the MX's ride just as well, AND I bought 2 sets of rear tires plus fronts, for the price of just one set of the PS2's......still rockin' the MX's everyday, in 275/35 & 295/35!

as for race rubber, the performance of the Kumho's are great (V700 & V70A), ... and the Toyo RA1's are awesome too!! (I have a set for the street/track), many wouldn't spend any more $ on a tire that is a DOT legal race tire in either brand. They're just that good. It's funny, b/c we'll run some Toyo rubber (a tire that's yet to be released in the US, but the RA1's too) at the track, and these Porsche guys (big spenders) come over all conspicuous, looking at the tire brand (b/c we'd just bested their time, again), and low and behold, some damn Toyo's! LOL! I can't say enough about either, both great choices depending upon what performance level you want.

SO Anyway, .... off my soap box, .....you back over in the desert or what?

seriously, i drove a rental vehicle(Kumho tires with over 15k miles) the other day and i was totally impressed(same for toyo). i didn't think much of those tires before. If money is no object, Michelins FTW.

These were questions I use to ask my customers to help them find the right tires:

1) What characteristic are you looking for or must have?

2) What type of driving will you be doing? Track? Drag? Autocross?

3) If these are on you DD then what's the % on/off track?

4) Off the track use how important is wet weather traction? Understand you cant have both.

) Budget.

Excellant dry traction with good wet traction. It doesn't rain much ir at all in Colorado

Mostly daily driving with HPDE, Drag racing, & Auto-X

70% Daily, 10% Drag, 5% HPDE, 5% Auto-X

As mentioned some wet traction but not that important.
