Cool polishing the factory rims?

Was wondering if anyone has polished the factory rims to a chrome finish? If you have, have you been told that the finish will last only 2 years..... I am wanting to do this to my z, but only if it will last.. thanks all..............zul8er

Default polishing wheels

I may have my wheels polished, and yes if you don't protect them
they will lose there shine.

Have the wheels clearcoated after polishing would maintain the finish. Or just keep them waxed and use a little polish by hand and they will stay nice. ( not in salt though!)

I feel that polished is much "brighter" looking than chrome.

If one you do this please post pics. I've polished the frame of my Kawasaki ZX-6. Looks great but its a lot of work. I'd be interested in seeing the results on our wheels.

Polishing and Chrome are two different things. Polishing is the natural aluminum alloy finish polished then clear coated. Chrome is when you dip the wheel in Chrome, this also adds weight to the wheel.
