Default Question on TPMS (I have read the threads related to TPMS)

Hi to all of you! Whoeve can help thanks in advance!

Since starting 07 model, the TPMS will not indicate which tires is under-inflated, as long as there is one or more tire is under-inflated the TPMS lights will go on. So, there is NO unique ID that is associated with each individual wheels then?

In other words, if I put in a new set of aftermarket rims with a new set of TPS, I don't have to bring the car to the dealer to have them re-program the TPMS right? Because all 4 signals are the same! No information in the signals, or the receiver, that tells which signal comes from which tires. As long as the NEW TPS can transmit all 4 signals to the receiver, it should work. This is just base on logical thinking.

That is exactly the scenario; I am getting new rims for my 07 350Z, and TPMS is one of the things I am concerned with. Let me know if I am right or wrong. Thanks guys!

I have my doubts, it only costs about $40 to have a dealer reprogram them.

Not exactly sure about 07s, but I'd bet that you would still have to have them all reprogrammed if you bought new ones.

(Can't believe I beat Dave at answering a question about the TPS).

I believe the sensors still have the unique IDs. The car is still looking for 4 signals even though it doesn't care which corner they're on anymore. So if you get new sensors, you have to get them recognized by the computer for the system to work.
