Default "34 lbs and 36lbs" Wheels too heavy? help

hey everyone

Today i was driving and saw a sl 500 with a set of Maya stm 19" . The wheels were mesh design with huge back wheel lip. I went online and i look up the wheel ( www.mayawheels.com ). I got the phone number and i call them up. The wheel is 19x9 and 19x10.5 in the back. the front wheel is 34lbs and the back wheel is 36lbs. Are the wheels to heavy? Will they slow me down? Or by the way, I drive a 350 z touring. All feedback will be appreciate.

thanks

Yes, that is extremely heavy, and yes it will slow you down. I just got a set of 2 piece Rays, and they weigh roughly 22-23 for a 18x10 wheel. You can one piece models like the TE-37 or the CE-28N that weigh 5 or more lbs. less than that per wheel. If you're worried about looks AND performance, I'd opt for something lighter. You'll feel like you're hauling bricks.

you can pick up 19x9.5, 19x10.5 Volk TE37's for around 2300-2400 which weigh in at 20lbs and 21lbs.

any forged rim, that is the lightest youll find, most high quality brands of forged rims will land right in that price bracket. HREs are excluded, they will be much more. 2 big names on here are rays and iforged, both make many designs of forged rims. I know there are others, but I really cant name them off.

forged is the key tho, lightest rims youll find.

Thanks everyone. I not going to get maya wheels, they look great but are way to heavy. Volk TE37 are the leading candidate now.

I know the back wheel is bigger than the front wheel, but is the back wheel lip larger? How larger is it? 2, 3 ,4 inch ?
