edit- found it. looks like i'll be picking some up to try it out. thanks for the recommendation.
i tried some a while back - eagle1 or something like that - and the stuff flung all over my rear quarter panel and bumper.
thought i had removed the excess but i guess not good enough.

I would suggest Poorboy's natural look tire shine. It's about 11 dollars per bottle. It will give your tires teh new look but with a little extra shine. I have a black car as well, and as long as you wait 10 minutes before you drive..no slinging back on the paint. This stuff lasts long too. I usually put it on every three car washes i do because there is no need to reapply.

It smells exactly like someone wiht bad body odor. It doesn't air out either, it will stay there until you wipe it off. I always have to tell the person sitting in my passenger seat the story or they will think i stink..lol.

not only is it weight on the car, its rotational weight. The bigger the wheel, the farther out your putting the weight and the worse it is.
Rotate in your chair at work, stick your legs out and then pull them in tight. Notice how you accelerate when you pull your legs in?

for tire shine recommendations, i personally like my Zaino Z-16 tire shine now. I use to use meguiar's endurance shine. I'm not a fan of ultra glossy shines on my tires...these lasted quite a while, and gave me the medium shine that i liked.
this is the best pic i found of my car with the tire Z16 stuff....

A good trick I always do too is overlap the tire shine onto the surface of the tire. This makes your sure get the entire sidewall.
It also makes the first corner you take after washing your car LOTS of fun..
