Default Alignment After New Tires?

do you always need an alignment after buying new tires?
i bought new tires 3 months ago, and the left front tire is
wearing unevenly, causing a really bad noise.

i brought it back to place i bought it from, and they are telling me
because i didnt get an alignment, the tire is already bad, and i need new ones.

i was like, what the hell, you never told me to get an alignment.
so now i have to meet with the manager and discuss the problem.
they have a 40k warranty when i bought them.

what do you guys think?
do i have a case here?

okay uneven tire wear is VERY common for the Z. (have you not read about the feathering issue on the 03 and 04 Z's)

If you have negative camber or toe in, it will cause uneven wear. If you're car is lowered without camber arms more than .8 inches or so, you will have negative camber.

Hopefully someone can post a link to the tire feathering recall (i think there was one).

Generally speaking however if you have uneven wear SO bad that its noticeable at 3 months, you have a camber issue. You probably SHOULD have had an alignment done. was the car pulling to one side or the other at all?

if not then its a camber issue. an alignment would have been able to tell you your camber, toe in and all that good stuff, so you could have had it corrected before wasting the tires away. however, if the manager of the tire places sees that there is a recall for tire feathering on the 350z, then he will claim he is not liable or responsible for the tires since you neglected to have the issue fixed. similarly he will probably argue that your camber is so negative that you voided the warranty on the tires. he will find any excuse to get out of replacing your tires for free. its 800-1000 dollars of lost revenue.

what kind of uneven wear are you talking about?

inner tread wearing out faster than the outer tread?

were the tires balanced after they were put on?

you shouldnt need an alignment if you just put new tires on. any suspension work, than yes. but just tires, i wouldnt think so.

New tires will not alter the alignment.

Uneven tire wear may be the result of several possible problems. Improper alignment is one.

yea...uneven wear on inside of the tires.
i dont have any suspension work, and im sure a tire place has to balance your tires when you put them on.

so, i went over there last nite, to complain about these tires.
they tell me that i have to take it up with their manager.

but now the noise is gone. i guess the tech did a tire balance or something.
so, now i really dont have a case because the noise is not there.
