Default 285 not fit w/ gts (+17-18) and gf210 dropp

all you guys with an 06 with volk gts +18 offsets (rear) using toyo proxies with 285/35/19 with a 1.2 drop using gf210....any problems.

just bought this great set up and used this site to get my sources...but now my installer says its going to need more than a shave or a roll of the fenders to make it work. He claims that it sticks out more than an inch that I will need fender mods for this to work. Now I know I've seen this set up numerous times here on the board and with no problems. What do you guys think is going on.
A culprit might be my tanabe gf210, lowering the car bout 1 to 1.5 inches.
Also, my z is an 06....

does anyone have input.

You never mentioned how wide are the wheels?

^Yea, makes a big difference. I have 285/35 on a 10" wide wheel and +18. 1" drop, rolled finders. Great clearance there.

A fender roll will do the trick easily, no need to pull the fenders

rim width on gts in 10.5

installer claims that its so wide that its beyond the usual fix of a fender roll or shave..

will a simple 275 decrease remedy the problems...???

help...pls...

I had Volk GTS wheels with 285s in the back on BFG KDWII (alot more aggressive then Toyo) and I'm lowered on GF210. I just did a little bit of rolling and I had NO rubbing issues on my 07.

You will have to play it by ear. I doubt moving to a 275 will remedy the situation. Venders are offering, and sometimes pushing, these overly aggressive offsets and tell people they will work. Then the buyer searches it out and everyone confirms everything by saying you need to run these aggresive offsets.... you don't want them to look tucked Then to find out the damn things won't fit without rubbing. from my experience, if you don't want to mess with fender rolling, running excessive camber, or running a tire size you may not want to, stick to a +28 or higher offset on a 10.5" wheel. Despite what others will tell you, it will look aggressive and still allow you to choose the tire you want without the fuss.

Don't mean to flame, but I don't understand why you didn't do the proper research when going with these aggressive offsets. You have to keep in mind when all these ppl post pics of cars with the aggressive offsets, the cars are slammed, running -2 degrees PLUS of neg camber, cut fenders, and stretching their tires on 275's. Thats what you need to do to make this work. Your installer probably had the car up on the lift and gauged it by eye. Perhaps 285's will work, but I wouldn't risk it, either return the wheels, or trade out the tires and do what I said above.

You shouldnt have to make your car fit wheels, wheels should fit the car.

there are numerous members here who run these combos like I've mentioned. and yes I am prepared to have my fenders shaved as I believe that this is a given. Negative camber yes..I did anticipate that as well as numerous members did mentioned that this was needed. I'm just merely mimicking what so many have done. I just don't understand why mine won't fit. I guess, I'm just verifying this attempt against the ones that were already done.

They should fit with the fenders rolled. My roomate has the same wheels with a 275 bfg kdw and there is more than enough room for a 285.

A fender roll will do just fine. we know more than your installer does.

A good fender roll and a bit of camber and you would be shocked to see what you can fit.

my old wheels...

sitting on a 06, with GF210's, with toyo T1R's 255/285 +17/18

no rubbing at all after a rear fender roll

your installer is on crack. i ran these on my car, same springs, rear fenders rolled.. no issues.

you may have issues if you put a fat chick in your car though..

I have these same exact wheels on my 06 w/ 275's in the back and i am lowered on coilovers w/ about 1/2 a finger gap in the rear. I have the fenders rolled and have never rubbed.

I agree. The wheel will camber in when actually on the ground and the suspension is under load. In the air it will look like there is no way for it to fit. Roll the fender and you should be fine.
