as for another rim, the SSR GT3, they weigh exactly the same as the stock 18's (non rays). fwiw, this was done on a bathroom scale with me holding the rims. the ssr's are 19x8.5 front and 19x10.5 rear with potenza SO3's. i thought for sure that they would weigh more than stock

my bad, I wonder what type of forging process they use,.... the VERY highest quality forged products are forged into an aluminum billitt then Manchined down (a totally different look than the TE-37), but there have been some VERY loose interpretations on "forged" in the market lately, like "melt forged" and "semi-forged" and "cast forged" and other such terms.

any metalergists here to explain????

TE37's are monoblock forged using a metal flow line, using 6061 aircraft grade aluminum, and are one of the highest quality forged rims out htere which is why they are also the lightest rims out there.

Agree with Matix - TE's are one of the best forged wheels out there - quality, weight, etc...

that would be my guess as well, that makes sense based on the design, I think I was writting "forged" throughout my long post and meant to write "cold forged". sorry for the confusion.

I was shocked as well..... I even recalibrated my scale to make sure.

Sure enough the weights were dead on... 52lb front with 245/35/19 and 56 on rear with 285/35/19 yes I said 285/35's!

Makes sense though cause when I was holding just the rear wheel (9.5" width) It felt really light.....

I think the ADR M-Sport is the lightest wheel you can buy for under $300 and they have phat lip too!

Dude, I'm so impressed with the setup on your car I bought set of ADR m-sports for my Z! They should be arriving on June 9th. Now I have to hunt down a set of Toyo T1's. Nobody seems to have them in stock!

N7DV, I've been advised to run Toyo T1's in 245/35 front and 275/35 rear, as the sizes that most closely approximate the stock diameters. Is this correct?

I called ADR wheels in California and asked they to give me the actual wheel weights and here they are:

18"x8.5" 30 lbs
18"x9.5" 32 lbs
19"x8.5" 34 lbs
19"x9.5" 35 lbs

That isn't very light. My old 17x8.0" BBS Moda sports weighed 28 lbs ea and we thought that was incedibly heavy. With the 235/45-17" heavy Yokohama A520 rubber, they were 54 lbs a corner. By comparison, my 17x8.5" SSR Competitions are only 15.1 lbs ea(that's with the hub rings and center caps). With the Kumho 712 245/45-17" rubber on them, they are only 39 lbs a corner. All these weight came from the UPS scale at my wheel dealer. Yes, the bigger Kumhos are lighter than the Yokohamas. I dropped 60 lbs by going to wider wheels and tires. The M-Sports are the only 18" wheels I have seen in a width over 9.0" for less than $300 ea. They are not the lightest in this price range though. The lightest wheel is going to be Enkei RPM2's. The 18x8.0" wheels are 19.4 lbs and the 18x9.0" wheels are 21.1 lbs. The cheapest price I've found on them was $255 for the 8.0" and $275 for the 9.0".

My numbers were from calling the Northern California office. I just called their Southern California office(they only have 2 offices) and asked again for the wheel weights and here is what they gave me:

18"x8.5" 29 lbs
18"x9.5" 31 lbs
19"x8.5" 33 lbs
19"x9.5" 35 lbs

Yes it was slight difference by 1 lb, but they may have a spec sheet that may list them in decimals and each could be rounding different. This is the weight of each wheel and not the shipping weight boxed. If you want to get an accurate weight, use a good shipping scale that is zeroed on a level surface. Never use a bathroom scale because they are very inaccurate.

I was also able to get some tire weight data. Falken lists their tire weights on their web sites. For Falken FK-451 tires:

245/35-19 25.4 lbs
285/35-19 29.7 lbs

Are we talking about the M-Sports or M-Classic??

there is NO way M-Sports are 35lb.

according to the Falken weights... my wheels are about 25 and 26 lbs.

This concurs with my claims.

Are you going to believe Golden Apple or someone who actaully has the wheels and has weighed them?

Tonight I'll weight them on my aircraft scale which is accurate to within approx .1 lb.... I'm guessing the weights will still be 52 and 56 lb.

So, let me if I understand the story now. You are saying that the bigger 19x9.5" wheels with the same offset are lighter than then 19x8.5" wheels. Good luck backing that one up. Remember what the tires weigh(straight of the spec page on the Falken website). To make you even look worse, even at 27 lbs they aren't even light unless you are comparing them to Niche's. If I have to choose to believing 2 calls to different people at the manufacturer Golden Apple or someone raving all over to people that a 27 lb wheel is light, I will believe the manufacturer. Quoting a higher wheel weight isn't going to help them with sales. They are a cheaply priced decent styled alloy wheel and nothing more. Styling is what you pay for and that is what you get. I don't think you can find a wheel this size as cheap as you can get these. Just don't expect to get a light forged or pressure cast wheel like SSR's Comps, SSR GT1's, HRE's, forgelines, Fikse's, BBS RK's, CCW's, etc... for that little. Even luxury wheels like Enkei Aegis and Axis Super Mesh wheels are lbs lighter for only a little more money. Here are a few other sport wheels for comparison:

SSR Competitions 18x9.5 17.7 lbs
Volk SE-37K 18x9.5 16.7 lbs
Enkei Aegis 18x9.5 23.7 lbs
Enkei Aegis 19x9.5 24.9 lbs
Fikse FM-5 18x8.5 18.0 lbs
HRE 546 18x8.5 20.0 lbs
BBS RKII 18x8.5 23.0 lbs
stock 01' Z06 rears(18x10.5, heavier ones) 21.4 lbs
