Since the only tire in the stock size are the crappy RE040s, I was thinking of a 235/45 front, 245/45 rear for which there are several choices. Anyone done this and is it a good idea?

Well, I've answered this twice before, the message comes up like it's posted, but when I came back it's gone. Let's try again.

Doing what you propose you would reduce the outside wheel and tire diameter, not a good idea. If they have these sizes, you should put a 245/45 in the front and a 255/45 or 265/45 in the rear. This will maintain you OD, and give you more rubber on the road.

 

I didn't want to go that large, especially with the stock rim width. Want to err on the short side.

Another possibility. The PZero Assimetrico comes in a 235/50, how bout puttin that on all four corners?

 

It might work, but you'd throw off the attitude of the car. the car was designed for a larger OD tire in the back than in the front. You don't want to mess with that. The back has 8" wide wheels and the front 7.5". 245 or 255's would fine in back. amd 235s would be fine in front. Maybe 235/50s in front and 245 or 255/50s in back. These should fit and would maintain the attitude of the car, but the it would sit fractions of an inch higher and have more ground clearance.
