Default taking apart 2 peice wheels?

well the previous owner decided to paint the rear wheels flat black and the front wheels gloss black. They are 2 peice volk SF winnings. How hard/ big of a deal is it to take the center apart and paint that, then put it back on the wheel? will it throw off the wheel balancing? and where could i get the torque specs from? i looked at the rays site with no such luck. thanks for any info!

i sort of agree, dont really want to. just trying to find the easiest/best way. masking off the entire wheel would be pretty tedious.

it really is pretty hard to mess it up. use a small file to mark them and line them back up when done. that way you can paint and the file mark will still be there, but hidden because you put the mark where it cannot be seen. but honestly, they do not balance the wheels on their own. the tolerances are tight enough you could put it back together in any rotation you wanted. yes, i have done it many times.
torque specs are per bolt size. look up the spec for a grade 8 bolt in that size and match it.

You will void the warranty if you take them apart

The documentation enclosed w/ Volk Wheels states that there is a warranty w/ the wheels. Removing the rivets and modifying the structure of the wheel are just two ways to void it. There is also a sticky on this, How to Maintain Your Rays or something similar, at the top of Wheels forum as well

its not hard at all - two piece just means center and barrel- you won't throw off the balance reinstalling. just make sure you use the right tools and that the center is seated snugly on the register. Torque down in a cross pattern. most multi-piece wheels are torqued to about 28ft lbs- don't over torque because you will break the bolt. I've taken apart plenty to know the process... Shoot- I sell multi-piece wheels all day. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.
