Oh, good. Yet another PIAA SuperRozza knockoff. Having the other ones from Stern, Ace, etc... definitely wasn't enough.

No offense to the owners, but some of those look like mustang rims to me.

But, hey, different strokes...

Instant gratification is everything in the U.S. Instead of taking some time to save and buy something worth while, most Americans would rather buy something cheaper which, may not be better, but instantly fulfills your want.

Lets face it, patience is overrated.

Or is it?

To each his own. If you love your car, that's great! But I do wonder, why someone who can buy a 350Z or G35 would buy knock off rims. I can totally understand a Mazda 3.....

wasn't really implied.

i never said wheel weight is not noticeable. I said it is irrelevant for a street driven car. i will agree that wheel weight is noticeable in terms of acceleration/braking (i went from 26 lbs Volk GT-7 to 19 lbs Volk RE30s), but not significant for your avg joe driving to/from work/school. the difference between a 26 lb forged/cast 19" Volk GT-7 wheel and 32 lb R-1 Hype 20" wheel is small.

that is not a small difference. that is 6lbs per wheel. for a total of 24 extra pounds of unsprung weight. most things people notice in day to day is braking performance, acceleration from a stop, etc. and all of these are affected by rotational mass and unsprung weight.

and yes, i have had both. and yes, a 19x10.5" Volk GT-7 weighs in at 26-27 lbs. I'm only guestimating the wheel weight of the R1s based on a lift comparison. The GT-7s were actually weighed on a bathroom scale.

my TE37 19x10.5 is 21lbs or so. and?

and if you are trying to imply I am a moron...well, i'll try to keep this civilized and not resort to name calling.

you are s-m-r-t! no worries we do not need to name call like sissy children

you say they are cheap, ghetto looking wheels, but yet they are exact knockoffs. would that imply that the "original" mfg wheels are also ghetto looking? just a comment, cause at the end of the day, cheap/ghetto is a statement of your opinion.

'exact' is a loose word if I used it. let me clarify: SOME of the designs they knocked off look ghetto as hell. the volk wheels they knocked off just look cheaper. the edges are slightly less defined and the finishes offered are obviously of a cheaper quality. and yes, this entire discussion is about opinions!

your posts do seem as though you are preaching from a soap box, but if you say you are not...how can i argue?

you cannot, you are right. and I am not anyway. I have contemplated picking up a set of Rotas (since I like the subtle changes they make in most of the rims they knock off, as well as thier finishes are decent) for winter or DD use.

the avg joe buys wheels that are within their budgets and within their needs. how can you come in and call someone out who cannot afford $3200 Volk RE30s, but want to rock aftermarket wheels that come in a hair over $1000? that's a huge price difference.

very true. I couldnt afford 3200 for rims alone either. unless I saved up.

how many wheels from R1 have cracked or showed damage as a result of their mfg process? How many Rays?
I don't know of a single one.

I don't know of a single person that uses them, or has used them over longer periods of time. Rays? of all the rims I have seen I cannot recall one rim that fell apart off the top of my head.

If spending $2500-$5000 on a set of forged wheels gives you the peace of mind that they are built of the highest quality, than awesome. But understand that there is market for lower priced wheels, and these companies simply fill that niche.

I also get peace of mind spending 1200-2000 on a set of high quality cast wheels from Work, Advan, Rays, etc.... there are other options then shitty knockoffs.

anyways, thx for the entertainment. it's always appreciated.

much obliged.
happy?

Here's another twist to this discussion: I can afford the expensive original wheels but I can't stand to spend money to just have a designer label on my wheels. Since I don't race, track or street, I am more concerned with looks, thus if I find a wheel that appeals to me and makes my ride look nice, I buy it. Has nothing to do with who can afford what or can't afford what. I have a bunch of interests and responsibilities to spend my money on, so how I choose to spend it is totally up to me. So yes, get off your high horse, because you damn well know you are riding one.

Yep...

- Light
- cheap
- strong

Choose any two...

Definitely cheap and light if I have to choose, if a rim is cheap enough, it can be replaced when it's bent.
