Default So my detailer used Acid Cleaner for my volks

I'm not mad at hime because he details my car for free whenever I want. It was a very low acidic solution. It didnt mess up the paint but peeled off the top half ofthe volk stickers on the spokes. The sticky portion is still on the wheel so I know the solution didnt stay on the wheel too long.

Should I use goo gone stuff to get the sticky residue out?

Please flame about how I got acidic solution on my volks but honestly, a wheel is a wheel but not worth fightin about with a friend. He said hell purchase a new set of decals if I want. However Im thinking about powdercoating the wheels now.

Any suggestions? I have volk Le37T's in dark silver now on a daytona blue.
Either gold or gloss black.

Side note. That acidic solution works wonders on metals. He sprayed my exhaust (exhaust has not been cleaned since last summer,) and the thing came out looking newer then the day I got it from UPS from Fast Intentions.

That's definetly not good for the exhaust if it's doing that. I would never spray anything acidic on metal. I would be afraid to see what happens over time.

And yes, you can use AUTOMOTIVE goo gone for the sticky residue. I don't see how light acidic can take off the sticker. Is the lip of your wheels ok?

If the wheels are etched with a acid based solution, the only fix is to have them professionally restored.

it is probably not an acidic cleaner, but abrasive. I guess it could be thou.

I say get it powdercoated... I did that when my Volks got ****ed. I did satin black, but I would do gold if I could...

any wheel acid will do that to ur exhaust.
if the exhaust is real dirty, wheel acid, then pressure hose.
clay bar then wax. and it will shine.
and on the wheel, wheel acid wont hurt it if its the first time sprayed onto it. if u let it sit...then it will.

Checked the wheels again this morning. Everything looks fine. The sticker is still on the spoke. Just the top of the sticker (colored part) came off.

My lips are fine

Its just a regular cleaner the dealer uses to clean ALL their cars. He said they use these cleaners all the time on all their vehicles. There was a new AMG CL63 there getting detailed with the samething. Hes been detailing cars for the dealers and said he never had a problem with any of it.

You are lucky you have LE's and not other volk wheels since your lips are not anodized. Thats why they weren't damaged by the acid, had you had a GT or SF wheel with an anodized barrel, they would have been screwed, seen it too many times with acid cleaners
