Default MB wheels/ size and offset

I am a bit lost on what is a "good" offset, done plenty of searching and found a set-up that I think will be good, but I need some advice before purchase.

Front 18x8 30 offset
Rear 18x9 either 38 or 18 offset?

BTW the wheels are MB weapon in gunmetal from discount tire.

What is best for daily driving plus some track time. Love my cars great handling and slight oversteer. Also will 275 width rear tires be a good choice or should I consider something slightly less?

Comments please.....

I'd get 9" +15 all around and stagger the tires with 255 front/275 rear.

is that because its difficult to run a 255 on an 8' wheel? If so that makes great sense, not sure if they come in a +15 offset... have to look into it.

It's because that is the most aggressive fitment they offer. I didn't see +18 on the chart, only +15, +38, and +45. A 8" +30 front is a weak stock size and would be tucked in. Stay away from any offsets in the 30's or higher.

Yup your right, I was off. Do you think it would still look good?

Look into the Drifters 9.5 +25 all around should be decent. It allows me to run 275s all around The Weapons will need some sort of spacer to make it more aggressive. A buddy of mine has 3 sets of them for tracking haha.

Why are you not staggering? Benefits? I know for tracking thats best if you have a neutral balanced car but on a RWD car that has a bit of oversteer is that best?? I'm sure you have your reasons?

Default Why members find offset so perplexing is beyond me.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Clearly your understanding of wheels and suspension dynamics is beyond mine. I guess you were just born with the knowledge of proper offsets and I wasnt. Just trying to learn here, nothing more.

I dream about wheels, tires and offset.

And the best way to learn about wheel width and offset is to play with an offset calculator.

BTW I am always cautious about telling members what is “best.” What if you spend $3,000 for wheels and tires, and the fenders cut the tires? Someone is going to be pissed.

9" +15 is slightly MORE aggressive than that, no need for spacers. It will look good, almost flush with the fender.

If you stick with a 255/275 tire setup you shouldn't rub with most alignment/suspension settings. A 40 series sidewall in those widths is very close to stock size and won't throw off your speedometer. You could also go with 35 series if you want a lower profile tire.

^Sorry about that. You're right. My buddy was not running a +15, he's using spacers to get to +15. haha

I totally understand that fact. Some people do that. I guess I should have been more specific on "BEST" as that word is used entirely too much on forums across the automotive industry.

This should improve acceleration as well correct?
