Default 20" vs. 19" Price and Durability

For the record I drive a 08 Z Touring.

Ok I am still going back and forth on wheel size and I know 20's look better and theoretically leave less of a wheel gap if I don't plan to lower. But I know this is a sports car not a cruiser and 19's help save performance and still look good. But every time I talk to a wheel shop they say go 20's on my Z for a few reasons

1. If you get a flat tire 20's are easier to find because more companies make them and in an emergency there quicker and easier to find

2. They look better and if you are going to spend the money don't just buy wheels and inch bigger

3. 19's are more expansive tire wise than 20's are because its a rarer size so in the future as companies manufacture bigger size tires because thats where the industry is going and they will be cheaper. They base this on the fact that not only are cars wearing 20's now but so are SUV's, so availability will be higher.

What do you guys think? Are these myths about emergency availability true? Because the Z is my daily driver and I don't want to be searching for 19's if I am stranded on the highway. Also for those with 19's how much wear with regular driving are you getting on those vs. your 18's the car came with?

most people debate 18's vs. 19's. 20's are just absurd on a z. sure if i had a tahoe i'd want to throw 20's at the minimum on it. but i don't drive a tahoe.

I use to have 19's but in my opinion they are a perfect fit for the car. they dont look weird or nothing, infact they look stock

i hade to upgrade to 20's and now I love them, i think 20's look sexy in a z

Okay but what was the average wear you were getting on your 19's did you often get flats? Or did you have no issues at all? Do you actually drive on your 20's and if so how often have you had to replace those.

the 19's i drove on for about 20k miles... I would say the rears need replacement around 25k. I did drift it, I hade no problems with them the tires were around $300 witch is not that bad.

the 20's are brand new, no problem so far and hopefully I do not have to replace them since they are around $750 a pice for the rears and 6 week weiting time. Im hoping to get 10k miles out of them if not more

Reminds me of the three bears. Papa bear says too big. Momma bear says too small. Baby bear says just right.

Yes 20" tires are cheaper and much more common. I had my e39 BMW running on 19'Breytons for a long time.Anytime my girl got a flat or hit something it was a pain to find the right size tires in 19"--- and this is even though I live in San Antonio with hundreds of tire places. they always had to be ordered. Now I have 20s on the Z and the BMW with no issues at all. tires are cheaper and everyone carries the right sizes. PS only do TOYO none of that off brand tire crap.

What price per tire are you paying for your 20's. Because 750 a tire is way more than I want to pay for a new tire. Thats ridiculous. In a bad summer you can easily drop 2000 in tires alone.

Dont know what tire that guy is running --- not even my bros 26s on his 'slade run 750 each.

For 20s Toyo T1Rs staggered I just checked my receipts and I was $950 (Z)and $1000 (BMW). This was OTD- including tax, mount, balance.

Got around 22k miles on the BMW--- and have around 12K miles on the Zs Toyos-- still have about 8-10K left.
