Default Project Paint My Wheels! (pics inside!)

alright so 2 years ago my tastes were idk..flashy...well here we are in 08 and i have a set of 19inch chrome stern st-2's...i hated them in chrome..so they sat in my basement for a long time..well i wore my 06 stockers out so i figured id put on my bling blings to save some money on tires for the time being..so after having them on for a while we decided they would look sick black..but i didnt wanna buy another set plus the factory bought ones just didnt looks to great to me..subtle differences you'll see between mine and theirs..anyway, on to the pics!

Just took off the wheels!

Sanding the chrome off!

Primered and ready for paint!

Painting the wheels!

ok so we were waiting on the paint to dry and my buddy had a mustang GT wing layin in his garage..being bored we wanted to see what it'd look like on the Z!

this is what it looked like before!

the is my new painted rim!

ready to put them on the car!

before picture

another before shot

finally done!

Another picture

might as well have another

Wheels look good. But did you have your rear bumper, sideskirts and gas cap repainted at somepoint or is that just the lighting?

well i dont have a definate answer...we did take dinner breaks and talk a lot a majority of the time...and we also painted a srt4 roof so if we hadnt done that im sure itd have been done a lot faster...but anyway we started @ 8pm tuesday night and was done with the painting of the srt4 roof and my wheels @ 3am that night...of course we had to wait on it to cure so that was the longest part...but i had the wheels on my car @ 8am in the morning..id' say if you worked hard and fast and didnt BS like we did you could get the prep and paint done in about 5 hours....and that time includes lifting the car and taking the wheels off and everything..but we waited for it to cure almost 4 hours before moving them to put on the car..

That is a huge improvement, and a huge savings compared to buying new wheels. Good job!

Cool. Thanks. Im thinking about painting my g35 wheels darker as well. 5 hours isn't long at all for this kind of project.
