ppl get caught up in the entire "jdm" thing. Last time I checked, Mcgards were the strongest out there in the market (steel). That is the main reason why I purchased them. For your purposes, these are probably the best lugs yet (since you have to take your lugs on/off often).

+1...I had gotten a set of those "tuner" Aluminum lugs, and after a few autoX events (I change wheels at each event), the locking portion was rounded off and would get stuck in the socket...so I switched to McGards and they're held up perfectly!:

Too early to tell. Only touched them once to put them on. I swap wheels often, so they'll be on/off the car many times in the near future. If they wear down, I'll let you guys know...

i appreciate the responses regarding the lug nut questions i had,
sounds like the mcguards are good stuff, now just gotta find out
if they fit my 5zigen fno1rc wheels or not, otherwise i was looking
at the lug nuts they make as an option too

Yea we carry Mcgard lugs and I love them. I own a set of the Ray's black lug nuts (ones pictured above in this thread) and I also own a set of Mcgard spline lugs. I now only run the Mcgards

The finish on the Mcgard lugs is awesome and they are anodized so the color actually lasts, unlike my Ray's that started to chip after a few wheel changes. Also the Mcgard lugs have a washer on the bottom of the lug that stays still when torquing the lugs, this prevents any paint scratches and keeps your wheels looking brand new.

Mcgard lugs will work with your wheels. They fit every wheel I've ever seen from Rota, Volk, 5zigen, Enkei, Work, etc.. The key is very slim and makes install/removal extremely easy.

For my rays extended I also have to carry a few more extra tools/sockets in my car as well. My spline drive Gorillas were so easy to work with.

Here are pics from a couple weekends ago. Gives you a better perspective of how they look installed.

How are they anodized? Your Ray's lugnuts are anodized since they are aluminum. Your mcgards are chromed steel, you cannot anodize steel. That is why the finish lasts longer, anodizing is more prone to damage

I should have been more clear in my post with which set I was referring to. The set of Mcgard's I have on one of my cars is the blue capped Mcgard spline lug which has an anodized aluminum cap. You are correct though about the other Mcgard lugs which use a chromed steel finish. Very durable finish that I've never once had a problem with.
