Default HRE Wheels

Can someone please explain to me why HRE wheels are soooo expensive? Seems like they cost more than Volks...

They're definitely high quality forged rims, but brand name has much to do with it.

Great quality wheels.

I went to the factory tour they had recently at the GTG and its amazing the time and care they take to build the wheels..

I got to talk to their engineers Alan and Chad. They know their stuff when it comes to designing wheels specifically for each car.

Im saving up for my set as we speak.. Going to be a while though..
Worth the price imo if your looking for the best

HREs do have their place, however, I'm not sure it's on a Z. I would love a set, but I don't think $5000-6000 wheels make sense on a $30K car.

they may be good quality....but I could never warrant spending that kind of money on wheels. They may be custom ordered...but that doesn't make them any higher in quality than a good brand like Volk or SSR...

volks and SSR's have limited offsets, with HRE's you can specify pretty much anything you need. That is one reason for the high price, and you also have to pay for the name and the rarity that comes with it. Couple grand more for wheels that 100's of Z's aren't running already is worth it to some

They look good sure, but that's the only reason to buy them for, looks and quality. If you track the car though, many of these HREs are not recommended.

Just saying that for the typical Z, spending money on wheels that cost a fifth of the car itself, just doesn't make sense.

Everyone has different priorities, but to buy something just to be exclusive is silly. If you have a show car and need that edge, that's one thing, but most of us don't. Most everything is played on the forums, but in real life, not so much.

Honestly on higher end vehicles, you know what's played out....HREs. There are other high end forged wheels out there if you want to be exclusive.

nobody says you have to buy them, lol. i chose a similar priced wheel, but extremely rare and darn happy i did. many folks on this site have spent WAY more than the msrp into their cars. sometimes, ya just gotta have what ya gotta have!!

This man knows what he is talking about... who wouldnt pay more that could afford to be different. HRE is pure quality. I thought about what rims i wanted for months and the balance was between volks and HRE's. The HRE's were double in cost of the Volks and sad to say i probably should have waited but i love my time attacks and i probably would have been the most paranoid mother fu**er in the world with HRE's...

In conclusion... HRE's are so FU**in worth it!!!!

so is dropping 15 to 20k on a TT and a build absolutely out of the question too?

I own a set and yeah I liked the rarity at first. They were very nice quality when I got them but after driving on them for 3 years 2 of them are now leaking and come to find out the aluminum is not sealed real well and now has a few stains in them. Its going to cost me about 2500 to get them rebuilt to new and they will be painted a different color as they are anodized now which after speaking to the techs at HRE was probably a bad decision. I will probably not purchase another set of 3-piece HRE's or any 3-piece wheel for that matter. The original cost for these was not too bad. Its the rebuild that i found out is suggested every 25k miles that kills me. Their customer service is top notch though. I am very happy with any and all conversations I've had with them.
