Default Powdercoat = damage the rims ?

I love black wheels !!! But Volks time attack or CE28n are too expensive for me.

So im gonna pd my Works CR Kai to matte black.

What u guys think?

Actually i used to have a set of powdercoated axis rims. But one of them was cracked after 1 month. I called axis and the powdercoat shop. They both didnt want to take any responsibility about that. I was really pissed =[
By now, I still dont know who's fault = =

Powdercoating forged parts is talked about at length on metalurgy/industry forums too since this comes up often on automotive forums, with the same response. Oh, and if you ever bend a forged wheel, that's how it's going to be straightened.

Many Scooby guys have their wheels powdercoated and have no problems after hours of track use. Don't go to Joe Schmo and you'll be perfectly fine.

Someone recently posted a topic about their powercoated OEM rims and all 4 cracked because of the powercoating.

I wouldn't do Flat black. go with Satin... much easier to keep clean and looking good. flat black just always looks dirty IMO.

I had my Volks powdercoated and ran them for a long time. if you go to a professional (and I have posted this many, many times) there is no risk to the rims. the temperatures needed to affect a forged rim are way higher than what is needed to bake the powdercoat.
