Ive cracked two of the chrome rims now, both times the front right wheel. Nissan charged me $250 the first time, and I havent gone back again to replace the second one. This sucks, and is very dangerous.

This just happened to me on June 4th 2010. I wish I saw this post before I bought the car used from a dealership last year. I towed it to the dealership and they said none of the warranties cover wheels. They went out of there way to show they didn't care. The car's on 05 so the three year rule is out too. These rims came with the car. My car is from Southern California also.

Luckily I was going only 10 miles an hour. I just got off the freeway offramp and made a right hand turn and this happened. The rim flew off into on coming traffic, so happy everyone avoided it and didn't get hurt. Im lucky too, could have been going a lot faster when this decided to give out.

An improper chroming process certainly could cause the metal to embrittle, but Nissan is the supplier to us as the customer, and should step up and take responsibility rather than lay the blame on their supplier.
