I have Volk GTS in Mercury Silver on my Z32. I took it to the dealer last week to have the timing belt changed and they got curb rash on my right rear wheel. They repaired the wheel and it has no flat spot, but the finish is scratched. I thought the wheel had a polished alluminum lip with a clear coat, but both the wheel guy and I don't know what it is. Any help would greatly appreciated.

it's an annodized lip that is on them. I had to completely stip all 4 wheels to get them to match. Put zoopseal on them afterwards, and have worked great. Ended up selling them to my mom for her mustang.

Sorry bro, you ruined the volk finish. Tell them they have to replace the entire rim in order to return it to its original finish. It is more expensive to have the outer barrel re-anodized and re-clearcoated the way ray's does than to just buy a new outer rim.

All they did was grind the curbed layer off, leaving bare aluminum which will not match the anodized lips and will oxidize over time. Good luck, hope those c*nts order you a new rim like they should. (or at least have them order the outer rim, which will take a couple months to receive.)

 

Sorry to hear your problems. Have the dealer replace your wheel, anything less is unacceptable. It will never be the same, if repaired, you would have 1 different looking wheel. I hate to say this, but never leave your car with nice rims at the dealers and don't even leave it overnight, it will get played. Good Luck!!!!
