DIsable TPMS help
assume you mean the warning light on the dash? It doesn't look like there is anyway around this. What type of wheels do you have now? For the first week or so I had my Winnings I had the indicator however, after that it never came back.
If yours stays, you will eventually get use to it...

^^ I have a 07, so there is no sensors.... but the light on the dash is there.... on a different note, I had my same GTS' on my 03 with 285/30 rear instead of 285/35 rear now, and i had not problems with the light...
ohh well i guess.

is it normal for the digital gauge to flash the PSI thing all the time and have the tire pressure display option always selected when the car first turns on? that annoys me more that the light.
the thing is, i had my volks for two years before the dash light and digital gauge indicator came on

The warning doesn't come on until after you're driven for about 45 minutes. That could explain why it didn't show up for a while.
From what I've seen, some people won't see it for a long time then all of a sudden it will start regularly. It may have something to do with the 45 minute trigger. After that happens a few times, then the warning may come on immediately after startup.

I just got my 08 NISMO and was planning to get another set of track wheels for DEs.
The threads referenced above state that I must get the TP sensors and get them programmed to my car. Will this be required every time I put on my street tires vs track tires? Can I buy a scanner tool, or whatever, to do this programimg myself?
What size wheels/tires do most poeple use for tracking at road courses? I want the widest wheel I can fit without issue or modification and want the greatest selection of comp tire manufacturers. I thought about the stock NISMO wheels, but it appears that Hoosier is the only mfg making those sizes.
Any input appreciated.

Don't bother with TPMS on your track wheels/tires. I have the sensors in my daily wheels. On the track, you're regularly checking the pressure with a guage anyway, right?
No, you can't buy a tool to do it yourself (you could but not cheap).
What size? No simple answer, lots of different opinions and choices. Most people like to go with smaller (17,18") because they are cheaper, more choices available, etc.

Thanks for the info.
I agree that I check the pressures often at the track. However, it would be nice to know if I was loosing pressure while on track.
In the absense of sensors, does the system simply provide the error message? That would be tolerable. On C6 Vettes, the ECU will lower engine output significtantly if it sees a low pressure indication.
Well, I have to ask. How expensive would the tool be to reprogram the TP sensors?
Regarding the wheel/tire sizes, I also own a 2002 Z06 and have found a simliar problem with the OEM wheel sizes. The front size is OK, but the back size is just a bit too small for the tires I would like to run. The stock rears are 18x10. I really need to run 335s, but they wont fit, requiring a min 10.5 width. Most replace the rears with 10.5 or 11 wide by 17 track wheels, as you suggested (go down one size in dia). These will barely fit the rear brakes and afford wider tire sizes and more manufacturers. It seems the stock NISMO wheel sizes are a simlar case. Few make 19 comp tires and it seems the car could benefit from wider rubber, esp in the rear.
I was hoping that I might fit 18s front and rear a little wider than stock for both. This would allow wider tires, but also give me more choices from more manufacturers. I have found this to be one of the best single things one can do to drop lap times. Hoosier tires are great, but they seem to know it, esp on some sizes.
Can anyone suggest a particular set of light weight wheels for this?
Thanks for any suggestions.

If you start driving the car with no sensors, nothing will happen until after about 45 minutes then the warning signal beeps and the dash light comes on. It doesn't affect power, etc. The Z doesn't have runflats like the Vette which is the reason I believe for the power cut there.
To reassign the sensors, you need to use Nissan's ConsultII disgnostics. I thought I had heard at one time the software alone was $5K plus you'd need the TPMS activitation tool, etc.
I use a set of Rays 18" wheels off an '03 track model Z. Pretty light and beign used, they were pretty cheap. Volk TE37s are lightweight but expensive.
Checkout the Autocross/Road forum (https://my350z.com/forum/a-305)/, you'll find more threads there on this subject of wheels and tires for the track.

My warning signal beeps after about 10 minutes of the car being on. That is the only thing that bothers me. I dont mind the flashing PSI light or the indicator on the dash. i just want the damn beeping to go away. is there anyway to just disable that or pull a fuse for it or anything??
yeah i have the sensors in. it beeps for 5 seconds solid, about 3-4 times. it varies. but it has the psi flashing in the gauges, and the (!) in the dash. it stays on the whole time i drive, and beeps constantly.
