Default I want a custom spacer made...

I want a 5mm hubcentric (to the wheel) spacer. Which isnt possible, our hub doesnt leave enough lip to engage a hubcentric rings w/5mm... So here's what I thought.....

Buy a 10mm hubcentric (to hub) spacer, then send it to a machine shop to cut it down to 5mm, but leave a 10mm thick center ring at 73.0mm wide (Rays/Advan and most japanese wheels I've come across) . Most spacers would have the 66.1mm hub extension and that would be taken off completely.

Anybody thought to do something like that? Anyone estimate machine shop cost for something like that? I assumed it would be a quick lathe job.

Sounds like a lot of work for 5mm. On something that small, I don't think you are going to run in to shakes and shimmies if you don't use the hub ring.

over-thinking simple things must be in my nature.

5mm spacers do leave enough to engage the hub , unless your running 2 piece rotors. I had them on mine till i swapped the brakes out.

Is this for me or the OP. If its for me , well the alum hat on 2 piece rotors is wider than the normal mounting surface of a 1 piece rotor.

I make custom spacers all the time, for a pair of 5mm should be anywhere around 100 hubcentric and rimcentric, there is just as much work in a 5mm as in 25mm so its a little on the pricey side, custom things arent cheap.

But I dont quite understand what youre saying.. whats this 73mm ring? I take it the Z's bore is 66.1? havent done a 350 spacer yet.. whats the bore on your rim? stock rim?

73mm would be to an aftermarket wheel, such as Volk/Rays or Advan in our fitments. $100 doesnt sound all that pricey

interesting. I am running 06+ brakes on my 03, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I was going by things I've read here, so I measured one of my metal hubcentric rings, its right at 5mm and maybe leaves 1mm or less sticking out. Or at least thats what I thought at the time. I will pull a wheel off and double check that one more time before paying for a custom spacer.

This is a simple custom spacer.. 5mm thick spacer...66.1 inner bore..73mm lip about 5mm out.. Simple !! I do that on my laithe in little time, takes me more time to cut the 6" OD aluminum than it does to make the spacer lol

Id make you a set if you were in Ontario.

06 brakes don't matter, i had a set of them to, on my 03. Measure again, and FYI you only need a few mm if extra hub, they hubring doesnt have to be filled completely for it to work properly.

This is correct. I have used 5mm h&r spacers and it will engage the hub. you shouldn't have any issues.
