Scratched wheel at shop, what to do next?
Long story short, I took my car to get a leaky tire looked at up at a local Goodyear. They removed the tire from the wheel using a "Rim Clamp" and scratched my wheel up, but I didn't find that out till later since I was in a hurry during my lunch break. Anyway, the tire turned out to be defective and no actual work was done on my car, so no receipt.
My question is this: should I go up there and just explain the situation and hope that they comply with replacing (worst case refinish to original) the wheel without a receipt...or should I go up there and ask for a written document stating their findings from the day before (that the tire was defective) for warranty purposes, so I can atleast have proof that i was there in case I have to take it to small claims? Is there any other way to prove that I was there that would stand up in court?
Its pretty obvious from the pictures that it was that machine that caused that damage.

go back and complain, the dealership messed up one of my wheels and they had to replace when i noticed it was damaged.
EDIT: i know its not a dealership, but go back to the shop and complain about the damage and explain your situation

I've had two wheel shops mess up my wheels before. I am very choosy now of whom I take my (often) wheel business to. One was circumferential scratches from that machine spinning around. The other lateral scratches, like you have, from the same type of gripping. Long story short, they paid for a REPLACEMENT rim. Fixing your wheel may be ok since the rim doesn't appear to be polished (and therefore clear coated).
I'd still fight for a new rim. Ask for the manager, and make sure the person that helped you the day you were there is there so you can say "he helped me", and explain your situation. Be nice unless pushed to be direct, but be mature.
