Default TPMS reprogramming

I just got a used set of TPMS for my new wheels coming in. I guess I'm going to need to get the dealership to reprogram them. Do they have to reprogram them before the tires are mounted, or can they do it after tires have been mounted on the wheels? Thanks.

Why not just use the sensors from the wheels u have now? Unless your going to be doing 2 sets of wheel for various things? Then I would just right down the information on the side of the new sensors and keep track of which sensor made it into which wheel. They can do it after.

I'm wondering if anywhere but the dealership can do it.

Thanks, I didn't want to go through the trouble of dismounting my stock wheels right now thats why. But i guess i just may end up doing so. I figured I would've kept them mounted incase I ever needed them for any reason.

doesn't matter when they reprogram. Might be better off if you just reuse your tpms from the stock wheels so the dealer doesn't charge you for the reprogram.

Would reprogramming really even be necessary? A buddy with a 04 350z and one with an 05 g35 have aftermarket wheels that came with TPMS but their lights didn't come on at all nor did they reprogram those new wheels. Anyone know the deal with that?

I know places like town fair tire can tell the module to look for new sensors so maybe they got it done there or some place like that.
