17" to 19" Wheels, how's the ride?
For those of you with 17" wheels and changed over to 19" wheels, what do you honestly think of the ride quality? I know the cars look great, but customers ask me all the time. Do you think it's too rough???? I've driven quite a few 18" to 19" changes and I don't think it's too bad. Thanks for the insight.
The car will tend to follow the various imperfections in the road more often but that's mostly noticable when braking. Over all the stability is increased and handling improved. The harshness isn't really noticable untill you go over some uneaven stuff in the road. It's worth it.
I had the pleasure of driving a brand new Z from the dealer on 17s and back on 19's down the same stretch of road, and that nice big parking lot down the street. Without a doubt you will notice the difference...but not so bad. Yes the car will follow ruts in the road a bit more (due to the wider contact patch) and large bumps/dips will get felt in the back side. The stock suspension does however offer a good deal of absorbtion. The little everyday bumps are almsot the same. Some 19s with wide meats certianly do change the car ten-fold though with quicker turn in and stability not to mention they simply look right on the Z.
the 19"s feel fine when compared to the 17". guess the only noticable difference is that i pull up little rocks and other road debris from the new wider and sticky-er tires on the 19"s. but thats more tire related, not the size of the rim.
I stayed the same, and my ride improved. might be tough to judge apples to apples. the only way to tell exactly would be identical tires, widths. only varying the sidewall to rim size. drive around on re040s and then switch to a real nice 19" rim/tire the difference might be small. not really because the difference in sizes doesnt matter, but the tire is better.
