18" Nismo wheels available (question)
So I got a bulletin from NMC today that I can now order 18" Forged Nismo wheels in silver and anodized matte bronze. BUT, I have a question you guys might be able to help me understand until I can find someone at NMC that might know. It says, "For 350Z coupe equipped with VDC, Nismo wheels must be installed in conjunction with the Nismo suspension kit and Nismo stabilizer bar kit. Failure to do so may result in the VDC system not operating properly and could adversely affect vehicle handling performance"......... What????? Why would changing the rims make any difference ????
That is really strange.... NISMO LMGT4 -- 18" only can be used with the S-tune ???
Jeff... Have NNA check out the NISMO / Japan announcement for the new 19" LMGT4 wheels...
Summary of the NISMO announcement states....
" The 19" wheels were developed to bring out the best in the S-tune G-attack suspension system.
The wheels were developed not for fashion.... but rather, for function ---- the best matching of a lightweight wheel together with the suspension to bring out the best."
Also, there is no mention anywhere of VDC...

There are only two things I can think of that could effect VDC, offset and the additional traction these wheels offer. Not sure on the offset/geometry issue, someone more knowledgeable should know.
What puts this into question is that Nismo said they were testing at least the s-tune suspension parts on VDC equiped cars before they released them in the US. This would imply that the suspension, stabilizer bars and wheels were created without taking VDC into consideration. What are the odds that they perfectly balanced the S-tune/rims without taking into consideration the default VDC settings.
Nismo must have about a $10 marketing budget.

Here are the pictures so many of you have asked for. I suck at taking pic's..... the silver rays have a polished and clear coated lip.
Weight is 18lbs for the front 18"x8.5"+25 and 19lbs for the rear 18"x9.5"+30.

I doubt it would be significant, though.
