Default Anyone know any good brands for Snow Tires?

I currently am running on stocks, and I live in NJ, so I would like to get some snow tires to get me through the winter. I have heard that the Blizzaks are good. Are there any other tires that I can look into. Also, I have heard that tirerack.com is a good place to look. Do you guys find that these online dealer are the best way to go, or should I check more of the local tire shops?
thanks

i have the same problem up ahead

everyone loves the lm-22 blizzaks (do a search)

tirerack is good

so is discouttiredirect

but i think it might be good to go local because they might do a free mount and balance if you buy from them..plus i think the online stores are sold out

some guy on this forum reccomended a tire place to me in edison NJ

i called him a month ago and i plan to buy tires from him when i get my iforged wheels (any time now)

the place is called friedman tire...i forgot the # but ill get it

the owners name is jake

very nice guy

Thanks, I'll check that place, Edison is not too far for me. I did noticed that everyone else in the forum seems to go with the Blizzaks, I wasn't sure if thats becuase they were really that good, or if there just isn't any other tire available in our size.
Did you happen to get a price quote yet, if so, how much?

Default Snows - studs

It depends on how extreme you want to get.

When I had my last high powered RWD cars (68 Camaro Convertible, 78 Camaro Z-28, 91 Firebird Formula) I always put on studded snows for the Winter (I am in CT). Studs are the only thing that will really help on ice (short of chains).

Now my Z will be a second car (with my other being an SUV) so I am notg going to bother. But.....

If you can stand the noise and "rugged" appearance studded snows kick ***!

Just my $0.02

They don't seem to make lm-22 (or any other snow tire) for the rear 17-inch stock wheels. I was planning to buy a set of used 17s, but now I don't know what to do.... I'd hate to move to a widder rear in snow 245/45-17....

Has anyone actually put winter tires on 17 inch rims?
